This Senior Instrumentation & Control Technician opportunity will provide service and maintenance, care and technical advice as well as standby duties on the design, engineering, troubleshooting, and modification of a wide range of field instrumentation and control including: sensors, transmitters, control valves, field analyzers and royalty/custody transfer meters, PLC machines and networks. You will provide engineering expertise and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Projects.

Willingly apply for this role if you currently are or previously have been an Instrumentation and Control Technician for a large heavy manufacturing or plant, FMCG, petrochemical, paper or mining (etc) organisation. Also necessary is your experience as an Instrument and Control Engineer, skills in using relevant engineering software as well as strong knowledge of relevant Codes & Standards. A University degree is required.

PLANT ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL)

As an organization that is firmly committed towards working with their internal and external customers to suit their every need, they seek a Plant Engineer (Electrical) to assume responsibility for the management and maintenance of the plant that will encompase the following key functions:

  • Key Involvement in Factory Management Team.
  • Turbines, generators and boiler equipment.
  • Milling and diffuser systems.
  • Typical factory /plant/ mill electrical equipment e.g. batch and continuous centrifugals.
  • Budgetary and planning functions.
  • Cost control.
  • Management of subordinates: performance management.

  • 1 x 12.5 MVA (10MW) Turbine Alternator Set, 11kV, 50 Hz, power factor 0.8
  • 2 x 4.375 MVA (3.50MW) Turbine Alternator Set, 3.3kV, 50 Hz, power factor 0.8
  • 2 x 5 MVA, 11/3.3 kV Transformers
  • 16 x 1.25 MVA, 3300/400 V distribution transformers
  • 1 x 9.8 Ohm neutral earth resistor (NER)
  • Maintenance and protection of 21 MVA, 3.3 and 11kV board
  • 1 x 3.5 MW, 11kV Shredder motor
  • 1 x 900 kW, 3.3kV Primary Kinives motor
  • 2 x 750 kW, 3.3kV Secondary Cane Knives motors
  • 1 x 450 kW, 3.3kV Main Cane Kicker motor
  • Over 500 Low voltage motors (0.18 to 225kW)
  • Fault-finding on High Voltage and Low Voltage starters
  • Understanding of AC Drives and PLC's
  • Synchronizing of the TA sets


 

A Bsc Engineering (Electrical) or BTech Engineering (Electrical) is essential for this role. As well as a minimum of 3yrs relevant experience in a heavy process engineering environment (i.e. typical environments are:- sugar, FMCG, paper, steel, mining, etc) - involving the full spectrum of equipment (electric motors, turbines, alternators, AC/DC drives, PLC's, etc).
