This Senior Instrumentation & Control Technician opportunity will provide service and maintenance, care and technical advice as well as standby duties on the design, engineering, troubleshooting, and modification of a wide range of field instrumentation and control including: sensors, transmitters, control valves, field analyzers and royalty/custody transfer meters, PLC machines and networks. You will provide engineering expertise and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Projects.

Willingly apply for this role if you currently are or previously have been an Instrumentation and Control Technician for a large heavy manufacturing or plant, FMCG, petrochemical, paper or mining (etc) organisation. Also necessary is your experience as an Instrument and Control Engineer, skills in using relevant engineering software as well as strong knowledge of relevant Codes & Standards. A University degree is required.

PLANT ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL)

  • Key Involvement in Factory Management Team.
  • Turbines, generators and boiler equipment.

  • 2 x 4.375 MVA (3.50MW) Turbine Alternator Set, 3.3kV, 50 Hz, power factor 0.8
  • 2 x 5 MVA, 11/3.3 kV Transformers
  • 16 x 1.25 MVA, 3300/400 V distribution transformers
  • 1 x 9.8 Ohm neutral earth resistor (NER)
  • Maintenance and protection of 21 MVA, 3.3 and 11kV board
  • 1 x 3.5 MW, 11kV Shredder motor
  • 1 x 900 kW, 3.3kV Primary Kinives motor
  • 2 x 750 kW, 3.3kV Secondary Cane Knives motors
  • 1 x 450 kW, 3.3kV Main Cane Kicker motor
  • Over 500 Low voltage motors (0.18 to 225kW)
  • Fault-finding on High Voltage and Low Voltage starters
  • Understanding of AC Drives and PLC's
  • Synchronizing of the TA sets


 

A Bsc Engineering (Electrical) or BTech Engineering (Electrical) is essential for this role. As well as a minimum of 3yrs relevant experience in a heavy process engineering environment (i.e. typical environments are:- sugar, FMCG, paper, steel, mining, etc) - involving the full spectrum of equipment (electric motors, turbines, alternators, AC/DC drives, PLC's, etc).

Electro Engineering Manager Sheet Metal & Commercial Appliance Design

As an Engineering Manager in Sheet Metal & Appliance Design, you will be responsible and be fully accountable for the following:-

  • Management of a small, committed engineering team within a medium sized commercial appliance manufacturing company.
  • Superior leadership and people management so as to influence the entire spectrum of the organization from R&D to manufacturing to marketing to finance.                                     
  • Setting project guidelines, deadlines and benchmarks                                                                             
  • Assigning and monitoring all work undertaken by the Engineering department.

  • They seek a good electro-mechanical candidate that will be hands-on with +/- 15years experience in sheet metal design and appliance design of white consumer goods or appliances that include any of the following (Convection Ovens (Prima-Pro and Prima-Lite), Coffee Warmer, Dip-A-Lait, Chip Dump Electric, Food Warmer, Bain Marie, Proofing Cabinet, Deep Fat Fryer (Electric & Gas), Frozen Chip Fryer, Fryer Donught, Griddle, Hot Food Bar, Multi-Toaster Electric, Sandwich Press (Flat Plate, Panini), Electric Toaster, Pizza Conveyor, Rotisserie, Stove Top Electric, Waffle Baker Electric, Water Urn) etc.

The main skills sought are:                                                                                         

  • Extensive sheet metal processing experience, including a working understanding of sheet metal bending allowances, welding and tolerances.                                 
  • Four year engineering or technical qualification, especially in a field that offers an opportunity to gain a well rounded background in understanding appliances or consumer goods.                 
  • At least 15 years experience overall with six to ten years postgraduate experience in the appliance industry                                                 
  • Highly skilled in the operation of Solidworks (or equivalent) CAD system
  • Extensive electrical experience pertaining to the appliance industry.                                                                     
  • Managerial experience in areas of engineering or technical operations.                                                                     
  • A passion and affinity for Engineering systems and their impact on technology and hi-tech manufacturing.                                                     
  • Ability to educate Company Engineers in improved process control.                                                                     
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to pick up new trends and key developments within the Engineering environment and to convert them into strategy and management.                     
  • Detail orientated individual with a strong bias for policy and procedures documentation.
